2007 Lucia 'Garys' Vineyard' Pinot Noir
'The outrageously sumptuous, complex 2007 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard is a compelling example of Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands. Ten to twelve percent whole clusters were used during fermentation, and the wine was aged in 50% new oak. Sumptuous aromas of kirsch, black raspberries, fresh mushrooms, and forest floor are very Burgundian as well as intense. In the mouth, the wine is full and beautifully concentrated with silky tannins and a long finish. Drink this sensational Pinot over the next 5-8+ years.'

2007 Novy 'Susan's Hill' Syrah
'The 2007 Syrah Pisoni Vineyard-Susan’s Hill, which comes from an upper ridge of the Pisoni Vineyard. The most backward of this quartet, about one-third whole clusters/stems are utilized. The result is a full-bodied, inky/blue/purple-colored Syrah offering up sweet aromas of creosote/charcoal, barbecue spice, blackberries, boysenberries, licorice, and a hint of lavender. Possessing a superb texture, full-bodied opulence, and a long, 45+ second finish, it should drink well for 5-6 years, and may evolve for a decade or more. Time will tell.'

2007 Novy 'Garys' Vineyard' Syrah
'More whole clusters/stems (40%) are used in the fermentation of the 2007 Syrah Garys’ Vineyard. This has given the wine more structure as well as an earthy, peppery, forest floor-like component to accompany the blackberry liqueur, incense, and floral notes. With fabulous fruit, full-bodied richness, and a stunning finish, it should drink nicely for 7-8 years, possibly longer.'

2007 Lucia 'Garys' Vineyard' Syrah
'The dense purple-colored 2007 Syrah Garys’ Vineyard exhibits a gorgeous perfume of boysenberries, blueberries, blackberries, charcoal, camphor, and spring flowers. It reveals full-bodied power along with great elegance and freshness, good acidity, and super-rich fruit that is neither heavy nor overbearing. While it will not last as long as a great French Hermitage or Cote Rotie, it will offer sensational drinking over the next decade.'

2007 Lucia 'Pisoni Vineyard-Susan's Hill' Syrah
(A note on this wine: Parker listed this only as 'Pisoni Vineyard' in his review.  There is in fact no 'Pisoni Vineyard' Syrah from the Lucia winery, only the one designated 'Susan's Hill, which is a particular block in Pisoni Vineyard.)
'A notch better, the 2007 Syrah Pisoni Vineyard boasts a dense purple hue as well as a glorious perfume of acacia flowers, forest floor, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and charcoal, fabulous fruit, a full-bodied texture, and stunning purity as well as length. It should evolve easily for a decade.'
